In 1996 while a freshman at the University of Cincinnati, Brett joined the student run newspaper The News Record as a contributing photographer. By his sophmore year he landed a contract with the University's Athletic Department and began coving all 13 of their sports. The following year he signed a similar contract with Miami University (OH) and also began freelancing for many national publications including Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, and The New York Times. While his career began in action photography, Brett has always had a love of portraits. While working for RISE Magazine, Brett was able to combine these two disciplines, shooting 17 covers and 19 features over a 3 year period. This experience with portraits led to Brett being involved in countless athletic marketing campaings with his images being used for posters, billboards, gameday programs and TV commercials.
